Dr Rameela began her career as a nurse in 1990 and has served twice as the State Minister of Health. She also earned a PhD in Social Sciences from Malaysia in 2010.
Minister of Agriculture and Animal Welfare Dr Aishath Rameela, has resigned from her post due to health reasons.
The President’s Office said today that President Muizzu accepted her resignation.
Dr Rameela had announced on November 29 last year that she was undergoing treatment for cancer and returned to work in February after receiving treatment in India.
In a statement, the President expressed gratitude for Rameela’s dedication despite her illness.
"....I am delighted to have such an active, trustworthy, and capable person as Rameela in the Cabinet. I am confident that the country will continue to benefit from her services in the future," the President's Office quoted President Muizzu.
