MVR 79.7 mil earned as Green Tax in February

Ministry of Finance revealed that the government earned MVR 79.7 million as Green Tax in February.

According to a report published by Finance Ministry on green tax, the state earned MVR 72 million from resorts as Green Tax.

Additionally, from guest houses, MVR 2.5 million was earned and from hotels MVR 1.9 million was generated as green tax.

The report also revealed that most of the green tax earned in February, MVR 26.9 was from Kaafu Atoll, which has the greatest number of guesthouses and and resorts.

Baa Atoll is the second highest contributor to the total tax amount with MVR 6.8 million and is closely followed by AA Atoll with MVR 6.5 million.

Some of the other high contributing atolls are Lhaviyani Atoll MVR 5.3 million, Dhaalu Atoll MVR 3.8 million, Raa Atoll, Noonu Atoll MVR 3.7 million and Vaavu Atoll MVR 1.5 million.

In addition to guesthouses and resorts, safari's and liveaboard's generated MVR 2.9 million in green tax.

Until the last week of March, the state earned MVR 231 as green tax and it is estimated that MVR 892.7 would be earned as green tax for this year.
