State expenditure reach MVR 30.8B, revenues at MVR 22.3B

The cumulative total of state expenditure reached MVR 30.8 billion as of October 27, 2022 reports Ministry of Finance.

On the other hand, state revenues inclusive of foreign grants reached MVR 22.3 billion by the review date.

The overall balance for the period is a deficit of MVR 8.5 billion, owing to higher government spending against earnings.

The cumulative total of tax earnings by October 27 reached MVR 16.04 billion, while the cumulative total of non-tax revenue reached MVR 6.1 billion. Capital receipts reached MVR 14.8 million while foreign grants reached MVR 309.3 million.

Annual total of recurrent expenditure reached MVR 22.5 billion. Out of the total, MVR 13.5 billion was spent on administrative and operational expenses, while another MVR 8.9 billion was spent on salaries, wages and pensions of public sector employees.

Meanwhile, annual total of capital expenditure stood at MVR 8.2 billion, with MVR 4.5 billion out of the total spent on infrastructure assets.

Loan repayment as of the review date reached MVR 2.5 billion. Moreover, transfers to Sovereign Development Fund (SDF) during the review week stood at MVR 653.5 million.

The current SDF fund size is at MVR 5.1 billion, with its bank balance at MVR 1.04 billion.
