48 year old arrested in KFC vandalism case remanded for 30 days

Criminal Court has ordered the 48 year old man arrested in the KFC outlet vandalism case to be remanded in custody for 30 days.

The 48 year old man arrested on Saturday for allegedly shattering the glass shopfront of the KFC outlet on Ameenee Magu in Malé has been remanded in custody for 30 days.

The shopfront of the KFC outlet in front of Masjid Al-Furqan on Ameenee Magu was vandalized twice last week.

The outlet was initially vandalized on Tuesday night, and the second incident occurred in the early morning hours on Saturday when the shopfront was shattered by a stone.

The man was arrested in connection with the vandalism that occurred on Tuesday night.

According to the police, the Criminal Court ordered the man to be remanded in custody for 30 days.

Recently, several protests against Israel have been held outside KFC and Pizza Hut in Malé, calling for a boycott of these businesses in response to the ongoing genocide in Palestine.

Last year, vandals also entered and damaged the premises of KFC, Pizza Hut, and the Coca-Cola godown.
