Maldives’s flag carrier airline Maldivian Aero has commenced direct flights between Malé and Colombo last night with flights scheduled between the two sectors every Thursday and Saturday.
Ticket pricings for Colombo via the airline start at USD 165 which includes 30 kilograms of checked baggage and an inflight service meal pack.
In light of the flights, Nawaloka Hospital, Colombo has offered special packages for customers who travel to the city via Maldives, said the airline.
As such, passengers will receive consultation, medical history evaluation, Body Mass Index (BMI) check, consultation with a dietician, dental and eye check-ups for free. Additionally, the hospital is also offering 15 percent discounts on out-patient laboratory services, and five percent off from x-ray services.
Maldivian has earlier introduced operations to Sri Lanka as well. Previously, the airline flew to Ratmalana International Airport during former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s administration in 2022. However, the sector flights were stopped just a week after the initial flight due to low demand.
According to Maldivian, the sector will be operated with its Airbus A320 aircraft, as the airline works on adding more airbuses to its fleet. Currently they have 14 aircrafts, which includes the Airbus A320 and two ART aircrafts while the rest are Dashes.
