Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has begun investigating several court cases filed against Chief Judicial Administrator of Department of Judicial Administration (DJA), Aishath Rizna.

Mihaaru News reports that these cases involve issues surrounding health insurance of judges and unethical conduct observed during employee enlistment procedures.

JSC has not yet disclosed further information on the matter and declared that no statements will be released before a verdict has been reached.

The Administration has also now incepted an investigation committee to further probe the case.

Rizna, who currently serves as a Assistant Resident Representative at United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) was first instated into the position of Chief Judicial Administrator at JSC amid September 2020.

Also having fulfilled roles such as Registrar of both Civil and Supreme Court, Rizna was appointed to serve as the head of the judiciary's administrative affairs in compliance with amendments to JSC's governing framework.

This amendment dictated that DGA which operates under the Supreme Court must be dissolved and a fresh department must assume its place with a newly elected Chief Judicial Administrator.

Dr Abdulla Nazeer, who had served the role since 2018 was compelled to step down after a new Chief Judicial Administrator was appointed. Nazeer now works in the education sector, as a State Minister for the Ministry of Education.

Including stipend and allowances, a Chief Judicial Administrator who serves a five-year term will claim a monthly figure over MVR 47,000.
