Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid on Wednesday met separately with the Ambassadors of Cuba, United Kingdom and Sri Lanka to Maldives.
The newly appointed Ambassador of UK to Maldives Caron Röhsler's introductory meeting took place at the Foreign Ministry shortly after she presented her letter of credence to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih at a ceremony held at the President's Office.
During the meeting, Minister Shahid congratulated Röhsler on her appointment and becoming the first resident Ambassador of UK to Maldives and expressed hope that bilateral ties and cooperation between the two countries will be further strengthened during Röhsler's tenure.
Discussions also focused on the progress in areas of counter-terrorism, aviation security, environment and climate change.
The Foreign Minister also met with the new Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Maldives Kohona Walawwe Nimal Dharmakeerthi Karunaratne.
Congratulating the Ambassador on his appointment, who presented his letter of credence to President Solih on Wednesday morning, Minister Shahid assured his commitment to revive the existing bilateral ties between Maldives and Lanka.
In addition, Minister Shahid and Ambassador of Cuba to Maldives Juana Elena Ramos Rodriguez held discussions on existing bilateral and multilateral relations and explored expanding the cooperation between the two countries in the field of health and sports.
