Acknowledging Fuvahmulah City's lack of an uninhabited island as a result of the atoll consisting of one island, the president has ensured that the city will see the assignment of one in the near future in accordance with the regulations.
Due to the absence of uninhabited islands belonging to Gnaviyani atoll as the city of Fuvahmulah is a one-island atoll, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated tonight that arrangements will be facilitated to establish an uninhabited island from another atoll as the property of Gnaviyani atoll.
During the ceremony held at Gnaviyani atoll academy to enable the president’s meetings with the people of the city, the President Muizzu highlighted that the state is making efforts to facilitate profits for the council and that the councils can commence various investments in uninhabited islands to collect benefits as a part of this scheme.

He outlined that the related regulation stipulates courses of conduct in the instance an atoll lacks an uninhabited island and that he will arrange such an island for the city as per the policy.
“Therefore, [I will be] offering the city of Fuvahmulah this opportunity even by the means of allocating an island from a neighboring atoll. With God’s will, I ensure all and any cooperation to facilitate this, even if it is from Huvadhoo atoll,” the President said.
“With this, the councils are being provided an income opportunity. The procedure for obtaining this income is for the council to collaborate with the people of the island. Investments must be extended within proposals made or provided with joint efforts of the island’s small businesses and the council,” the President said, offering more insight on the work.
He further ensured that this development will allow small businesses in these islands to amplify their income alongside the island’s councils.
