Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) commences shore protection project in Seenu atoll Hithadhoo.
The project contractor held an official ceremony on Thursday, October 6, to officiate physical works of the project.
Minister of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure Mohamed Aslam graced the event, as its chief guest. He was flanked by MTCC Chief Executive Officer Adam Azim, along with Central-Hithadhoo MP Ahmed Rasheed, South Hithadhoo MP Ibrahim Nazil and the Mayor of Addu City Ali Nizar.
According to the project contractor, the shore protection initiative in Addu City is an instrumental project carried under President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's administration. MTCC front man assures Addu City citizens will greatly benefit with the addition of a new picturesque beach area and swimming area upon project completion.
Project scope includes sand filling in an area of 6,891 cubic meters, dredging the swimming area which measures 975 cubic meters. Additional components include construction of a 100 meter breakwater, and installation of a geo-tube structure stretching to 570 meters.
The project is reportedly valued at MVR11.64 million.
