Sri Lanka officially welcomes President Solih

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and First Lady Fazna Ibrahim received a warm welcome from the Sri Lankan government on Tuesday.

President Solih was officially escorted to a reception held at the Presidential Secretariat with traditional performers on the route.

At the Presidential Secretariat, President Solih and Madam Fazna were greeted by Sri Lanka’s President Maithripala Sirisena and First Lady Jayanthi Pushpa Kumari.

When President Solih and President Sirisena took their positions on the dais, national anthems of both countries were played and they were honoured by a 21-gun salute.

Additionally, President Solih inspected the Sri Lanka Tri-forces Guard of Honour held on his behalf.

After the welcoming ceremony, top officials of Sri Lanka’s government introduced themselves to President Solih. Meanwhile, the delegation accompanying President Solih was introduced to President Sirisena.

Both presidents held officials discussions at the Presidential Secretariat afterwards.

President Solih is visiting Sri Lanka to take part in the country's 71st Independence Day celebrations upon the invitation of President Sirisena.
