Family Protection Authority (FPA) has opened a public consultation for the development of the third National Domestic Violence Prevention Strategy.

Under the Prevention of Domestic Violence Act, the agency is responsible for formulating and implementing national policies to prevent acts of domestic violence.

The FPA said in a press release last week that the implementation period for the 2017-2021 National Domestic Violence Prevention Policy has now expired. Therefore, works on the Third National Policy for the Prevention of Domestic Violence for 2023-2027 has begun with the assistance of a local consultant.

Consultation meetings are currently underway with various relevant institutions and private organizations to obtain the necessary information.

“The Authority believes that such efforts can best be carried out by consulting those who have experienced domestic violence and the public,” the statement said.

A special webinar will be held on Thursday at 9 p.m. to provide the opportunity for the public to share their views and consult on the policy.

Those over the age of 18 who wish to attend the webinar are asked to register online by Wednesday, October 12.
