As part of his manifesto for a potential second term, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has included plans to introduce educational tourism in the Maldives.
During a ceremony held as part of his presidential election campaign in Gaaf Dhaal atoll Huvadhoo, President Solih emphasized the significant importance he places on higher education. He highlighted that his commitment to enhancing higher education is reflected in the manifesto of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).
"Courses and scholarships in higher education open up new doors for young people," said President Solih.
"To encourage foreigners to study in the Maldives, a student visa will also be introduced," he said.
- Implementing Human Resources plans on each island and offering corresponding programs
- Enhancing the Maldivian education system to gain recognition from international audiences
- Increasing the frequency of institutional audit reports and constructing additional facilities for higher education purposes
- Offering educational opportunities to a greater number of Maldivians to advance in the tourism industry
- Setting up a branch of a globally renowned hospitality school within the Maldives.
- Expanding the range of free degree programs
- Expanding medical programs and promoting specialized education both within the Maldives and abroad
- Enhancing opportunities for ocean-based scientific research in the Maldives
The president has undertaken visits to numerous islands within the Gaafu Dhaal atoll as part of his election campaign tour and is scheduled to visit several islands in the Gaafu Alif atoll in the coming days.
