Altercation between locals and foreigners; one arrested

A physical altercation has occurred in Central Park, Hulhumale', between a group of Maldivians and a group of Indians.

Police said that they received reports of the altercation at 21:00hrs last night.

Two persons have sustained various injuries in this fight. The two were transferred to the Hulhumale' Hospital by police.

An official from the hospital said that both of the individuals are foreigners, and that neither has suffered serious injuries. They were both released from hospital after treatment last night.

Police stated that a Maldivian man has been arrested in connection to this case.

Investigations are ongoing and police are looking into the reasons behind the fight and trying to locate those responsible.
