Two expatriates have sustained severe burns due to a fire incident at a workshop in the Maldivian capital, Male' City, last night and are now receiving treatment for their injuries.
The fire was controlled shortly after it broke out. However, the premises were left severely damaged in the aftermath.
One of the two injured, an Indian national, is receiving treatment at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), said Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), elaborating that he had burns on six percent of his body. Meanwhile, the Bangladeshi national is undergoing treatment at ADK Hospital for burns sustained across three percent of the body.
The cause of the fire remains unidentified as of yet.
