Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has commenced physical works of Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll Gahdhoo harbor development project on Saturday, November 26.
MTCC reports that work is underway to close the existing harbor entryway and the first shipment of rock boulders have been delivered to the project site.
Work scope of the project entails dredging and excavation operations of 23,017 cubic-meters, along with structure construction. Structures which will be developed under the project include a 232 meter breakwater, 35 meter revetment along with a 320 meter quay wall.
Additional structure development include construction of a 320 meter scouring apron, along with a bridge and installation of 1,600 square-meter harbor pavement. Support components under the project include harbor light installation.
According to MTCC, the project value is a total of MVR 42.6 million.
