Special Advisor to the President Abdul Raheem Abdulla has stated tonight that loyalty must not be towards a specifics individual, and that he will remain steadfast on the principles of the ideology he began his political career with.

Although Abdul Raheem did not explicitly name anyone as the individual he is referring to, it is widely believed that this may have been a jab at former President Abdulla Yameen. This is based on the fact that Abdul Raheem had been one of Yameen's closest political associates since the start of his political career until the recent split that came around the beginning of this new administration.

Speaking in Shaviyani atoll Milandhoo yesterday afternoon, Abdul Raheem criticized both Yameen and opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).

The advisor stated that through his long political career, he has had the change to observe the ruling styles of various leaders. This includes, according to him, leaders who ruled for the luxury and privilege of ruling, those who ruled for the perks and benefits of ruling, those who ruled out of pride and obnoxiousness of having the presidency, and those who ruled for the benefit of the people.

Abdul Raheem said that when a leader of the people has come to listen to the concerns of the people and address them, building a future for the people, Maldivians will not allow individuals fueled by jealousy and conceitedness to muddy the waters.

He lauded President Dr Muizzu as a leader like no other Maldives has seen in recent days; one who has the will to listen to the people's voice, work closely with citizens, and work with complete sincerity.

"We are not going to follow an individual. We follow an ideology. In that same way, you, too, should not base your support a particular person. It is the ideology that you must support," Abdul Raheem said.
