Male' City Council has established a special hotline to address the issue of Male' being littered with garbage by publicizing photos and videos of such incidents and taking action against those responsible.

Increased disposal of garbage, including old discarded furniture and other household items, on the roads of Male' following the cleaning of households for the month of Ramadan has become a growing concern. Waste Management Corporation Limited (WAMCO) and Male' City Council have been collaborating to remove garbage from the streets. However, the issue has not been resolved, as people continue to dump garbage on the streets.

Male' City Council stated that they are actively identifying those who dump garbage on the streets and called upon the public to assist by sharing photos and videos with the hotline.

The council has requested the public to send photos and videos of people dumping garbage on the roads to 9341144 via Viber or WhatsApp. They added that the public can also share their concerns through the council's website.

While a hotline has been set up to share photos and videos of people throwing garbage on the roads, the council has now begun publicizing photos of those who dump garbage on the streets.

Yesterday alone, 30 tonnes of garbage were collected from Male' roads.

The police are also working with the council to resolve the issue. They stated that they are collaborating with relevant bodies to advise and fine those who litter on the roads. Those found throwing away garbage on the roads are also being made to pick up the trash, the police said.
