Police announced the identities of seven men they are searching for in connection to gang violence on Thursday.
Police said that the suspects are wanted for a case under investigation by the Serious and Organized Crime Department. They are;
- Mausoom Mohamed Didi (27), Male’
- Ahmed Shimhaz (22), Thaa Thimarafushi
- Looth Ahmed Asif (18), Male’
- Ahmed Rabeeu (24), Gaafu Alifu Maamendhoo
- Ahmed Naazihu (27), Gaafu Alifu Gemanafushi
- Munaadhu Jaufaru (20), Seenu Hulhudhoo
- Ahmed Saathiu, Seenu Maradhoo
This announcement was made when group violence has increased in Male’ recently. Two clashes took place in Male’ on Eid al-Fitr, while two more reported in Hulhumale’ last night.
Police said that the first fight took place last night near the Lyre restaurant in Phase One of Hulhumale’. The violence was reported around 9:15 pm. The second fight was reported around twenty minutes after the first fight broke out, near a bridge in Hulhumale' Phase Two. Two people were injured and treated according to the police.
