Former Tax Commissioner Hassan Zareer has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Bank of Maldives (BML) on Monday.
BML said that the appointment was made in the meeting of its Board of Directors held after Monday night's Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM).
While Zareer has been appointed as BML Chairperson, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has also submitted his name to the parliament as a nominee for the post of Commissioner of Taxation.
In addition to Zareer, President Dr Muizzu also submitted former Tax Commissioner Yazeed Mohamed's name. The relevant parliament committee is currently conducting research into both the nominees.
Besides Zareer, Ali Faris Mohamed was also appointed as a Board Director of BML in last night's EGM.
