Police have revealed that 21 cases of theft have been reported from mosques in Malé City.
A total of 21 cases of theft have been reported from mosques in Malé City so far this year, said Maldives Police Service today.
"Six fans, two mobile phones and a water pump involved in these cases have been located and returned," police detailed.
However, no additional details related to these cases have been revealed.
The rising theft cases from mosques has also been highlighted and raised as a concern by Malé City Council. The council has also published multiple social media posts about the incidents.
Maldives Police have also previously published videos of individuals who allegedly stole from mosques, including a video published in April which showed an individual who is believed to have stolen a fan from Masjid al Taqwaa. Six fans were stolen from the mosque over the course of three days.
Police said that the individual also stole fans from other mosques as well, and that the fans were located after they were sold.
