Male' City roads are currently transformed to accommodate for several bus stops, which the City Council had earlier stated, was ongoing.
The buses will travel through three distinct routes. MTCC has already commenced a testing phase prior to the actual operation.
According to MTCC, the buses will travel through major roads of the city including the main Majeedhee Magu, Ameenee Magu and Orchid Magu.
Earlier, regular parking was officially prohibited across Majeedhee Magu. The council had removed all parking signs, replaced them with caution lines. The authority is currently attempting to fix parking locations in other major roads slated for bus service operations.
MTCC further confirms bus services will commence once parking issues are resolved. The company had acquired a total of 36 mini buses for the operation, out of which 12 will be put to use in the capital.
The vehicles provide accommodation for 22 passengers.
MTCC reports buses will make stops across the city in every 10 minutes. The mini-bus service, part of the Raajje-Transport Link (RTL) will be carried out in Addu City, Fuvahmulah City and Laamu atoll as well.
