A young man with a kilogram of drugs in his possession was arrested in Addu City on Wednesday.
Police arrested the 19-year-old based on intelligence received of illegal drug dealing and substance abuse in Hithadhoo island.
He was found with four large rubber packets filled with suspected drugs.
Possessing 1kg or more of any type of illegal drugs carries a life sentence, under Maldivian law.
