The High Court of Maldives is attempting to eliminate single-use plastics in a move to decrease the impact of plastic on the environment.

Kicking off the movement on Sunday, Chief Judge Shujau Usman gifted glass water bottles to senior administrative officer Mariyam Rasheeda, administrative officers Fathimath Neesha and Naahidha.

Shujau stated that he is pleased that the High Court is joining the government’s efforts to reduce single-use plastics.

All members and staff of the High Court were provided with glass water bottles as part of the programme.

Government offices and private companies have also taken measures to reduce the amount of single-use plastics. The High Court is the first court to initiate this programme.
