Male City Council on Saturday removed over 600 wooden pallets from various areas in Male.
Council member Ali Shareef stated that the council has received several complains from the public regarding the pallets. He added that in order to give a solution to the difficulties faced by the public, they have started working with Police to remove the pallets.
"Most of the pallets damaged and could hurt people. But we did not remove them from some of the areas" Shareef said.
He added that the council will make a guideline on placing pallets and permission will be granted after requesting to the council via a letter.
City Council will work on removing anything placed against regulations every Saturday from 8:00 a.m. till 12:00 p.m. according to Shareef.
While work is underway to remove the pallets, a woman was injured last week after her leg got stuck in a pallet.
