Mohamed Nimal, who previously served as Deputy Minister for Tourism and Managing Director of Fenaka, has been named the CEO of the Local Government Authority (LGA).
Mohamed Nimal, who previously served as Deputy Minister for Tourism and Managing Director of Fenaka, has been named the CEO of the Local Government Authority (LGA).
Nimal, who also held the position of president of K. Atoll Council, was appointed as the CEO of LGA following the removal of Mariam Zulfa. Zulfa has been reassigned as Minister of State at the Foreign Ministry.
President Mohamed Muizzu presented Nimal with his appointment letter during a ceremony held at the President's Office today.
Nimal initially became the Managing Director of Fenaka Company in 2012 during former President Mohamed Waheed's administration. He was dismissed from this role in July 2013 due to a complaint alleging misuse of office. However, he was reinstated as Managing Director of Fenaka during former President Yameen's tenure.
During Yameen's administration, Nimal was again dismissed from Fenaka and subsequently appointed as Managing Director of the Maldives Road Development Corporation (MRDC). He resigned shortly after this appointment and later became the Deputy Minister of Tourism. Nimal also held a senior position at the Maldives Embassy in Sri Lanka.
