Abdul Raheem recalls the president's speech about the Maldivian flag and asserts its relevance to the present state of affairs. He stated that to allow it to continue waving with independence, PPM/PNC must gain majority in the upcoming parliamentary election.
Special Advisor to the President and People's National Congress (PNC) Chairperson Abdul Raheem Abdulla has highlighted that the state of the country is associated with the speeches given by the President Dr Mohamed Muizzu regarding the Maldivian flag during his inauguration ceremony.
Speaking at the ceremony held at Haa Alif Atoll Vashafaru during the president’s current trip across the northern atolls in the country, Abdul Raheem subsequently stated that the flag will wave freely once PNC and Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) coalition triumphs the super majority during the parliamentary elections planned to be held on the 17th of next month.
Abdul Raheem recalled the president’s first speech addressing the people of the country as the President during his inauguration ceremony on November 17 last year and remarked that many important points were made in relation to the Maldivian flag.
“Regarding the Maldivian flag, the president stated; Oh, the flag of Maldives, flutter in liberation, respect and honor will be bestowed unto you with perfection. He then sang; The Maldivian skies will not darken to night, kiss the native soil with the deepest adoration,” Abdul Raheem recalled.
He remarked that the state of the country today is directly related to these words previously voiced by the president.
“Within these words, everything we want to say is included. We cannot implement the promises we just made if the Maldivian flag does not wave with freedom. Multi-purpose halls cannot be built within schools and neither will the other developmental projects progress. That is why the president said as such,” he stated.
Abdul Raheem asserted that when the president stepped into administration of the country, the country’s independence was already lost. He affirmed that therefore, the president has been treating the retrieval of the country’s freedom with the highest and utmost priority.
Further assuring that efforts are being made to extricate the country from this challenging state, he stated that the majority of the parliament is a very significant matter.
“The parliamentary election is of necessary importance to allow the Maldivian flag to wave in liberation. The flag will proudly continue rippling in red, green and white within our country once PPM/PNC gain super majority in the upcoming parliamentary elections.”
The upcoming parliamentary elections selects members for 93 constituencies, amongst which 89 seats are being pursued by PNC members.
