Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands takes coveted first spot for disbursing the highest service charge in August 2022.
The top-tier tourist property reportedly disbursed USD1,317 (equivalent to MVR20,308) as service charge for the review month. Ritz-Carlton has ascended top spot after beating long-time major service charge disbursers which included Nautilus Maldives, Waldorf Astoria and One & Only Reethi Rah.
During the 2021 tourism peak season, Ritz-Carlton had disbursed a service charge of USD1,500 (MVR23,130) to each of the resort's staff.
The service charge for August disbursed from Ritz-Carlton is comparatively higher than regular disbursements for off-peak season in Maldives. Service charges in major tourist properties generally do not break the USD1,000 (MVR15,000) threshold during off-peak season.
Second spot in August was secured by Anantara Kihaavah Maldives, that disbursed a service charge of USD835 (MVR12,800). One & Only Reethi Rah made to third spot with a service charge of USD785 (MVR12,300).
Angsana Velaavaru made the cut, landing in fourth spot along with OZEN Reserve Bolifushi following closely.
Kagi Maldives and Dhiggiri Resort Maldives made the list for disbursing the lowest service in August. Both properties had disbursed around USD175 (MVR2,500) in the review month.
Tourism peak-season will kick off usually around October each year. Maldivian tourism expects on picking up tourist influx in the following months, which reflects on service charges disbursed by tourist properties.
Service charge on tourists have been legally enforced, with tourists subjected to 10 percent as the fee.
