The Prosecutor General's Office (PGO) has relocated its entire extensive archives to Fuvahmulah. The archive was officially opened today.
This is the first time that the records kept by the PGO, including case files and prosecution records, have been archived in any location besides capital Male' City. Despite the physical archive being located in Fuvahmulah, the PG Office can access the records online at any time.
The archive, located in the PGO offices in Fuvahmulah, was officially inaugurated by Fuvahmulah Mayor Ali Rafeeq.
Speaking at the ceremony, PG Hussain Shameem said that the relocation of the archives is a decision taken under the new management policy to decentralize the work of the PG Office. He noted that this change would also open up new opportunities of employment.
"Now this offers the chance of employment for four or five persons from Fuvahmulah, to work and live on their island," Shameem said.
The PG emphasized that the relocation of the archive had been conducted so smoothly with immense cooperation from Fuvahmulah City Council, and extended thanks to them.
