New non-resident High Commissioner of Maldives to Canada Thilmeeza Hussain, on Friday, presented her Letter of Credence to the Governor General of Canada, Julie Payette.
The ceremony was held at the Official Residence of the Governor General at Rideau Hall, Ottawa.
Appointed on February 12 by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, Thilmeeza is the first Maldivian woman to hold the post of High Commissioner to Canada.
High Commissioner Thilmeeza is also currently the Permanent Representative of Maldives to the United Nations (UN) as well as the Maldivian Ambassador to the United States.
Previously, she served as Deputy Permanent Representative at Maldives' Permanent Mission to the UN and also held the post of Non-Resident Deputy Ambassador to USA and Canada.
