Cocoon Maldives emerged victorious in the Tekkers Resort Football Cup Lhaviyani Atoll, defeating Le Meridien by a score of 5-4 in a penalty shootout.
Cocoon Maldives took an early lead in the first half of the final match held at Le Meridien Resort. However, Le Meridien managed to equalize the score before half-time. In the second half, Cocoon's Mohamed Nabeel, who was awarded "best player of the atoll", scored again to give his team a second lead. However, Le Meridien once again managed to equalize the score, resulting in a thrilling match.
Mohamed Shuhail of Cocoon Maldives was awarded the title of "Man of the Match" for his outstanding performance in the final. He was also selected among the top five players of the atoll. The other players in the top five included two more players from Cocoon, namely Hassan Zareer and goalkeeper Ali Gusham, as well as Le Meridien's Akbar Ali and Ahmed Haneef.
Ahmed Haneef from Le Meridien and Mohamed Nabeel from Cocoon were recognized as the top scorers of the atoll, with both players scoring two goals each throughout the tournament. Additionally, the best coach of the tournament was named Mohamed Abdul Ghani from Cocoon Maldives.
Cocoon Maldives, as the champions of the Tekkers Resort Football Cup Lhaviyani atoll, will now advance to the knockout round where they will face the champions from Noonu atoll. The matches for Noonu atoll are scheduled to commence on July 15 at Siyam World.
