President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met with senior officials from TikTok today to discuss avenues for digital monetization and share his vision for a more digital and connected Maldives.
The senior delegation from TikTok is currently in Maldives to explore opportunities for collaboration. During the meeting, President Muizzu outlined his administration’s commitment to fostering a thriving digital economy, one of the key pledges of his presidential manifesto.
The President’s Office stated that TikTok officials expressed full support for this vision and discussed potential areas of cooperation between the platform and Maldives.
The TikTok delegation also held discussions with the Ministry of Economic Development. According to the ministry, the talks focused on expanding digital monetization avenues and creating opportunities for local content creators.
TikTok’s "Creativity Program," which replaced the former "Creator Fund," currently enables creators to earn income based on video views and engagement. A number of Maldivians are already earning an income through the platform.
