Documents destroyed were old, nugatory: FSM

Fuel Supplies Maldives (FSM) has stated today that the documents seen being destroyed in the video circulating on social media are old, nugatory documents. The statement was made in response to public outrage following the suspension of the staff who shared on social media a video showing FSM destroying paperwork in a concrete mixer. "The videos shows documents which have been in stored in godowns for several years, and are inconsequential to the company now," an FSM official stated. The official alleged that the video was circulated on social media to portray the company in a negative light in front of customers and the public. FSM Meter Technician, Ahmed Anees, who initially shared the video, has been suspended from duties. In his suspension letter, it said the suspension was due to "a matter under investigation". The company has not commented on the suspension of Anees. The letter of suspension Anees received was signed by FSM CFO Aishath Fayaza.
