Vice President Faisal Naseem met with representatives of fuel supplying firms on Tuesday.

At the meeting held at the President's Office, VP Naseem inquired about the process of fuel storage, delivery and daily operations of the companies in delivering and refuelling the vessels docked in the Male' region.

He stressed the importance of abiding by safety precautions and instructed the firms to standardise their operations in accordance with specified safety guidelines. The company representatives, in turn, noted the areas in which they could do so.

The vice president also emphasised on the government’s plan to transfer all industrial activities away from residential areas, which include alternate arrangements for fuel storage and refuelling. He added that the administration would incorporate a monitoring mechanism to ensure the standardisation of the service.

The meeting was attended by senior officials from State Trading Organisation (STO), Fuel Supplies Maldives (FSM) and Ports Authority.
