The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has called for registration for the training program to be completed by October 25 for individuals interested in obtaining a waiver for traffic violation fines.

The Ministry of Transport has said that individuals who wish to have their traffic violation fines waived must attend the training program by October 25.

Entries for the training program was officially opened on September 25, Tuesday.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih previously granted waivers for all traffic violation fines from the past five years. The waiver period includes violations occurring between November 17, 2018, and the subsequent five-year duration.

Despite announcing the waiver for the past five years, it will only be applicable to individuals who participate in the specialized training program aimed at enhancing traffic awareness. While parking violation fines will be waived, fines accrued for violations of traffic regulations will only be forgiven after completing the program.

Participation in the program has been made available through the ministry's SIMS Portal since Tuesday. The 20-hour training program, developed by the Maldives Police Service, is designed to enhance both traffic and social awareness among participants.

Participants must submit their applications via the portal, and the registration window will remain open until October 25.
