Miyad was arrested at Velana International Airport upon his arrival in Maldives.
Abdulla Miyad, who was arrested for issuing death threats against President Dr Mohamed Muizzu on social media, has been remanded in custody for 15 days.
A police media official stated that when Miyad was brought before the Criminal Court, the court extended his remand. Miyad had been arrested for posting death threats and threats of harm aimed at President Muizzu, several state officials, and other individuals.

In addition to these threats, police reported that Miyaad had used obscene language on social media and shared posts promoting homosexuality.
Two weeks ago, police said that they were investigating an account under the username 'Ablor Myad Yosef' in connection with the death threats made against President Muizzu, adding that the incident was being treated as a serious case.
The account has over 9000 followers, and has frequently made threats against several individuals. One such incidence is where the account has comment "needs [your] throat slashed" under a post by former MP for Madaveli Hussain Firushan.
