High Court ruled on Friday that they will not be able to overrule the order to seize the properties of Hassan Mamdhooh, accused of allegedly fraudulently selling K Park flats.

The police had seized Mamdhooh’s apartment and additional properties under a court order, over accusations of fraudulent sale of K Park flats.

When Mamdhooh appealed this ruling with the High Court, the court said in their verdict that the Money Laundering Act allows for seizing of property in cases such as this, and Mamdhooh’s properties were seized accordingly. They said that while defendants have the opportunity to contest such rulings in the lower courts, Mamdhooh failed to take this course of action.

Therefore, since Mamdhooh did not appeal in the lower courts to overturn the ruling, the three-member bench of the High Court presiding over this case ruled that they cannot overrule the verdict.

The high court heard the case with Justice Abdul Maniu Hussain, Justice Mohamed Niyaz and Justice Hassan Majeed. The bench was headed by Justice Maniu.

Mamdhooh has over 100 pending cases against him over the fraudulent sale of K Park flats.
