During the last 10 days of Ramadan (starting Sunday), zakat will be accepted at the Islamic Centre hall from 1100 hrs to 1400 hrs on all days except Fridays.
MVR 1.6 million has been collected as Fitr Zakat within the first 10 days of Ramadan.
Statistics from Maldives Zakat House, the new agency set up by the government to oversee zakat-related procedures, revealed that a total of MVR 1,599,113 was received during the first 10 days of Ramadan.
Collection of Fitr Zakat began on March 11.
Fitr Zakat will be accepted online until April 6. Zakat can be paid through Bandeyri Pay until the last day of Ramadan. Arrangements have been made for those who are not familiar with online payment to pay zakat at Islamic Centre hall. Zakat will also be collected from island councils.

During the last 10 days of Ramadan (starting Sunday), zakat will be accepted at the Islamic Centre hall from 1100 hrs to 1400 hrs on all days except Fridays.
The Zakat House has also arranged for those who wish to pay zakat in the form of wheat grains from Sunday until April 9. In Male', zakat will be collected in the form of wheat grains at Aminiya School Hall.
The Zakat House stated that zakat collection in the form of wheat grains will be accepted from Sunday to APril 9 from 1300 hrs to 1600 hrs on all days except Friday and Saturday. Zakat in the form of wheat grain will be accepted from 1300 hrs to 1800 hrs on April 9.
