The Maldivian women's national volleyball team has won the silver medal at this year's Four Nations Cup International Volleyball Tournament.

The team secured second place after being defeated 3-2 by Singapore's national team.

Despite the loss, the team's achievement was celebrated by the public and the sporting community as it marked the second time the women's national volleyball team has won the silver medal.

Singapore won the first two sets with a score of 18-25 and 22-25, respectively, while Maldives emerged victorious in the fourth and fifth sets with a 19-25 win in each. However, the team lost the fifth set to Singapore with a score of 11-15.

The game was played on the indoor court of the Youth Center and began with fast-paced action from both teams. Although Maldives took the lead at the beginning of the first set, Singapore tied it with a 9-9 score, after which Maldives called for a timeout. Singapore dominated the rest of the set, and the score ended with a 25-18 victory for Singapore.

During the second set, Singapore maintained the same pressure on their opponents, and although the Maldives managed to close the gap between points and tie at 20-20, Singapore won with a score of 25-22.

With two consecutive set wins, Singapore began the third set strongly, but Maldives fought back with Hawwa Sahaa, one of the team's star players, improving their attacks and blocks, and Maldives won the set with a score of 25-19.

While it appeared that Singapore would take the lead in yet another set, their attempts were foiled by the team’s captain, Hawwa Rashida, who secured a 17-18 one-point lead, which was stretched further by her consecutive attacks and culminated with Aishath Maajidha further cementing the lead with 17-21. Maldives won the set by a score of 19-25.

Maldives kept a strong attack formation in the fourth set, with players Fathimath Joozan, Faiha Mohamed, Aminath Riyasha, Nareema Idrees, and Aminath Shaha Shamin dominating the game. Maldives won the set with a score of 25-19, leading to a final set that saw both teams playing on an equal footing, with Singapore ultimately winning the set with a score of 15-11.

The Maldivian team had previously defeated Malaysia the night before the game against Singapore, and their strong performance throughout the tournament was recognised by the sporting community.
