After the ceremony, the Ambassador conveyed regards from President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and expressed appreciation for the continued close ties between the countries, assuring future commitment to working together, a statement from the Foreign Ministry said.
President Erdoğan congratulated Abdul Raheem on assumption of his duties as the Ambassador of Maldives to Türkiye.
Abdul Raheem has served in various capacities at the Maldives National Defence Force for 39 years. Prior to his appointment as Ambassador, he was the Chief of Defence Force.
The Ambassador was accompanied by his spouse Aminath Dhihshana, First Secretary Aminath Shazly Saleem and Second Secretary Ismail Niyaz.
Maldives decided to open its first embassy in Türkiye on December 10, 2023, under the current government.
