Former Chief Justice Abdulla Saeed, former Supreme Court Judge Ali Hameed and former Prosecutor General Muhuthaz Muhusin and former High Magistrate of ADh. Maamigili Court Ahmed Nihan were brought to their residences on Sunday.
Corrections Service confirmed that all four individuals are currently placed under house arrest.
The release of all persons facing unjust convictions is one of the key pledges made by newly sworn-in President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
As such, Abdulla Saeed and Ali Hameed both face jail sentences exceeding 3 years over two different alleged crimes, while Muhuthaz and Nihan are each faced with 17-year imprisonment over charges of terrorism.
Meanwhile leading political figures former President Mohamed Nasheed, Adhaalath Party Leader Sheikh Imran Abdulla, former Minister of Defense Mohamed Nazim and former Parliament Speaker Ahmed Nazim, have all been freed after stay orders were placed on their respective jail sentences.
