Utility fines to be waived after service payments are settled

Waiving penalties issued over overdue payments of utility bills will be enforced next month with these fines retracted once payments for previous service usages have been settled.

Utility companies have declared that President Dr Mohamed Muizzu's decision to waive penalties issued for overdue payments of water and electricity in households will be enforced next month and that these fines will be retracted once payments for service usages has been settled.

Speaking at a gathering held for senior officials of utility companies to exchange information, Managing Director of Male' Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC), Abdul Matheen Mohamed stated that the company will be waiving penalties for bills due at the end of 2023 and elaborated that the payments for these bills can be settled either simultaneously or under installments.
