In a public address today, Abdul Raheem Abdullah (Adhurey), Special Advisor to President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, expressed a fervent desire for the ruling coalition of Progressive Party of Madlives (PPM) and People's National Congress (PNC) to secure the majority in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

This declaration came during a speech in Thaa Atoll Guraidhoo, a locale that demonstrated unwavering support for Dr. Muizzu, boasting the highest percentage of votes cast by its populace in favor of the president.

Advocating for the allocation of the Guraidhoo seat to a PNC candidate in the imminent parliamentary elections, Abdul Raheem emphasized the paramount importance of prioritizing development within island communities. He underscored that aligning with President Muizzu's government is currently the most advantageous path for all.

"Guraidhoo is the leading island when it comes to this line of thought. None of us should prioritize anything else over the development of our own island. If we allow space for ideologies that want to block development, then we are inhibiting our own island's development. We are then obstructing our own children's future," Abdul Raheem said, addressing the residents of Guraidhoo.

Abdul Raheem commended President Muizzu for diligently fulfilling the promises made during the presidential campaign within the constraints of the government's capabilities. Encouraging citizens to afford the Maldives a chance for progress, he reiterated the government's slogan for the upcoming parliamentary elections, emphasizing that for President Muizzu to realize his developmental agenda, securing a parliamentary majority is indispensable.

Asserting the pivotal role of parliament in translating developmental visions into reality, Abdul Raheem stressed the necessity for the PPM/PNC coalition to attain majority representation within the chambers. He emphasized the importance of fostering public trust in the parliamentary process, emphasizing that only by giving the PPM/PNC coalition an opportunity can legislation be enacted to benefit the entire populace, eradicating disparities between islands.

Calling on citizens to support government candidates in the March 17 parliamentary elections, Abdul Raheem highlighted the challenges faced by the current government due to the majority held by the opposition MDP in the existing parliamentary session. He noted instances where the parliament rejected presidential appointments but underscored the resilience of the government in reinstating the appointments promptly.

As President Muizzu continues his visit to Thaa Atoll, fulfilling his promise to prioritize the island that contributed the most votes in the presidential election, he is engaging with local councils, women's development committees, and the general public across 11 islands in the atoll.
