Aasandha has said that although changes are being brough to how its services are provided to those who hold private insurance, Police and MNDF officers will be exempt from these changes and will continue to receive Aasandha services as before, with no changes.
Aasandha said that changes have been brought under the advice of National Social Protection Agency (NSPA), which are in effect from yesterday onwards.
With these changes, Aasandha coverage is now offered after first charging from any private insurance the patient holds. Earlier, Aasandha coverage was granted even to those with private insurance.
The company said that Police and MNDF insurance schemes are not considered private insurance, and as such, they will continue to receive Aasandha coverage.
They said that service providers have been instructed to continue offering services for in-patient treatments from MNDF and Police in the same way it is done now.
Persons with private insurance will also receive Aasandha coverage inf their private insurance coverage limit has been reached, and the service is included under Aasandha.
If the coverage limit is not reached, the Aasandha portal and Vinavi portal for prescriptions will no longer be used.
Latest statistics from the Ministry of Finance indicate that as of June this year, MVR 918 million had been spent on Aasandha services. This is about 50 percent of the budget allocation of MVR 1.9 billion.
