Chairman of Youth and Economic Council Dr.Mohamed Shainee stated on Saturday that USD 86 million (MVR 1.3 billion) will be spent on the Vilimale phase two project.
The project dubbed as "Emmennah Hiyaa Kashavaru" aims to provide housing for a population of 300,000 people.
Dr. Shainee told local media Mihaaru that currently, there are ongoing projects using a combination of loans and foreign aid that cost billions of dollars. So it is not a difficult task for this government to obtain USD 86 million according to Dr. Shainee.
Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure has opened for applying to the housing flats and land that would be issued from Vilimale 2. Applicants must be over the age of 18 without any land of 1,000 square feet registered under their names.
Under this project, Male City, Vilimale, Thilafushi, Gulhifalhu and land reclaimed from Fushidhiggaru will be connected via bridges.
