Ministry of Housing and Urban Development stated that low-interest loans will soon be provided for housing on inhabited islands.
Deputy Minister Ali Shamin stated that the ministry held discussions with several banks regarding the provision of loans with interest rates between 5 to 6 percent.
He went on to say that the plan would be announced soon.
The provision of affordable housing is a pledge of the current administration.
As an end to their discussions, Housing Minister Aminath Athifa, on Tuesday, met Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA)’s Governer Ahmed Naseer.
