Judicial Service Administration (DJA) suspended Protocol Division Director of Supreme Court Aathika Ibrahim on Tuesday over an ongoing investigation.
Aathika was shouldering some responsibilities of Supreme Court's Secretary General since November 4, while she was suspended under the Judicature Act until further notice.
These responsibilities were shifted to her when Secretary General Dr Hussain Faiz was relieved of his mandated duties following a decision to file a case at the apex court's Judge's Majilis to launch an investigation into him.
Chief Justice Dr Ahmed Abdulla Didi formerly stated that Faiz was negligent in his court duties following the amendments brought to the Judicature Act.
Judicial Service Commission (JSC) is investigating the Chief Justice for threatening to dismiss Faiz from his position following these allegations.
Court staff accuse Aathika of exerting influence to secure undue advantages for certain judges. Aathika also works as the Personal Secretary of the Chief Justice.
