The Investigative Committee tasked with probing the case against Supreme Court Chief Justice Dr Ahmed Abdulla Didi and judges Abdulla Areef and Adam Mohamed Abdulla, submitted a motion to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) to provide official advisement to the aforementioned judges.
JSC revealed its decision in Tuesday's meeting to accept the Committee's investigative reports on the investigation against the three Supreme Court judges. The reports compiled from the investigation recommends JSC to advise the judges.
JSC further decided to permit the judges a 30-day duration starting from Wednesday to submit responses in accordance with the Commission's regulations.
It was decided that the investigation report detailing the case against the Judges for delays in concluding cases would be submitted to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, the Parliament and courts.
The judicial watchdog revealed that it was investigating the two cases against two Supreme Court judges on July 10.
However, details about the cases were not disclosed.
Supreme Court Judge Abdulla Didi is currently suspended as Maldives Police Service investigates serious allegations of corruption against him. The Investigative Committee has also submitted a motion to JSC to dismiss Judge Didi from his post.
Referring to the matter, Former President and incumbent Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed on Tuesday described the JSC decision as a return to form for the constitution.
He elaborated, "This sitting of Parliament wants a return to form to the various contents of the constitution. JSC is carrying out the work. In my opinion, JSC had renewed important regulations under the constitution".
