Judicial Service Commission (JSC) on Tuesday took the statements of three Supreme Court justices for its investigation.
JSC Director Hassan Zaheen confirmed that the separate investigative team put together for the probe, took the statements of Chief Justice Dr Ahmed Abdulla Didi and judges Abdulla Areef and Adam Mohamed Abdulla.
The commission revealed last Wednesday that it was looking into two complaints filed against the three justices but did not disclose any details.
The three justices in question were the ones who later revoked the Supreme Court's landmark ruling of February 1, 2018, to free political prisoners. They annulled the order after then-Chief Justice Abdulla Saeed and then-Judge Ali Hameed were arrested during the state of emergency announced in the wake of the ruling.
Judge Areef is also the top court representative to JSC and the president of the commission.
Meanwhile, Judge Abdulla Didi is currently under suspension amidst an ongoing police investigation over serious corruption allegations. JSC has also filed at the parliament to dismiss him from the post.
