Expatriates arriving in Maldives will also have to undergo medical tests within 15 days.

The government has decided to make it mandatory for expatriates arriving in the Maldives for an extended period and those currently in the Maldives who have not undergone medical screening to undergo these tests within the next six months.

During a press conference held at the President's Office, Principal Secretary to the President on Public Policy and former Health Minister Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim said that all expatriates coming to the Maldives for an extended period for various purposes should undergo on-arrival and annual medical check-ups. He said that the 30-day period given for a medical check-up after arrival will also be shortened to 15 days.

According to the regulations for the entry of expatriate workers into the Maldives, expatriates entering the country for work are required to undergo medical procedures once a year. Otherwise, their work permit is not renewed. Individuals are required to submit a police report before entering the country and then submit a medical report from a government-approved clinic or hospital within 30 days of entering the country.

However, this procedure is now voluntary, and medicals of expatriate workers are no longer submitted when they are brought into the country.
