Charges have been pressed against the taxi drivers involved in the protest last December where they blocked the streets, obstructing traffic flow.

The Prosecutor General's Office said that charges have been pressed and the case submitted to Hulhumale' Court on February 5 against three individuals who participated in the protest on December 11, 2024 on Nirolhu Magu in Hulhumale' near MWSC, where they blocked the road, obstructing traffic flow and prevented the police from fulfilling their duties.

Although four persons were arrested at the time and placed in remand in custody, charges have been pressed against three of them. These are:

- Mohamed Shamin, Ma. Viraah

- Misbah Shareef, Ma. Naheedhee Manzil

-Nu'uman Ahmed, Holiday Village, HDh. Kumundoo

All three are being charged with obstructing State duties.

If convicted, the three would face a prison sentence of 24 months and 4 days.

The Prosecutor General's Office said that the three are being charged because they parked their vehicles across Nirolhu Magu, blocking one lane of the road and refusing to move the vehicles even after Police advised them.
